Bulbs. Dig, Drop, Done and Curbside Chaos 02/04/12

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Bulbs. Dig, Drop, Done. for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I have a confession to make.  When it comes to gardening, I must have been born with a black thumb.  I’ve tried planting bulbs several times.  Yet each time I do, I wait with anticipation through an entire season for beautiful flowers to emerge and nothing ever happens.  The other day I stumbled upon a fantastic website that gave me some great pointers and basically taught me everything I ever wanted to know about bulbs and how to plant them correctly.  Please visit www.digdropdone.com to learn more.  If you’re a beginner or even an expert gardener, you’ll be sure to learn a lot from this website!

I loved the bulb browser they had on their website, too.  Just select  your “bloom time” and “light requirements” and you’ll be able to choose from a variety of bulbs that is right for your garden area.  Now I know which bulbs grow best in my yard.

Bulb Dig.Drop.Done has several women personalities that you can identify with and guess which was mine?  A super mom with several children who is a bit on the perfectionist side.  Bingo!  She offered a great tip on the website about raking a layer of leaves over a bed of newly planted bulbs for extra insulation through the winter.  I’ll have to try that this year.

Be sure to enter the contest “Bulbs. Dig, Drop, Done.”  It’s an educational effort designed to excite women about the surprisingly simple beauty of flower bulbs and they are giving away a $5,000 yard makeover!  All you need to do to enter is submit a photo of your yard at Curbside Chaos

The lucky winner will not only receive a $5,000 yard makeover, but they will also receive a visit from Taniya Nayak (@TaniyaNayak on Twitter) – Taniya will go through and give you tips on the best way to update your yard! She will give you creative ideas for incorporating flower bulbs into your landscape.

For every share on Twitter, “Bulbs. Dig, Drop, Done.” will donate $1.00 to Rebuilding Together – the nation’s leading nonprofit, working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities.

While you are at Curbside Chaos, be sure to try out the Garden Guru Tool located in the bottom left of the screen. This tool will help you figure out which bulb is perfect for your home depending upon where you live! Simply follow these steps:

Step 1 – Pick your Country
Step 2 – Pick your location within that Country
Step 3 – Choose the type of bulb you want to grow
Step 4 – Check out the Planting Guide that shows you how to plant your bulbs

I did, and chose Daffodils in the spring.  It was so much fun to do!
